![]() The waterpark had many similar activities but in less space so the wave pool was on one side, but it was smaller. Our basic room felt smaller than the Poconos and none of the Fitchburg rooms have balconies - something we really enjoy having. Overall, the feeling I got throughout the resort was that everything was cramped together tightly. Personally, I did not like the pools, rides and facilities being fragmented but perhaps there were some "pros" in terms of separating out people who are on line for rides. Being accustomed to the huge one-room water-park style of the Poconos, it took some adjusting to the fact that this facility has two separate rooms that house different waterpark components. I was travelling with my wife and 10 & 12 year old boys, who had each brought a friend their age, so they immediately took off to explore the layout of the whole place. The parking situation was much better, however, and as the resort seems much smaller than the Poconos, the check-in process was not bad. In other words, there is no log-cabin, woodsy feeling like you would have at other properties that were built from scratch. Upon arrival, it was immediately apparent that the facility was rehabbed from something else and I learned that the property had been a Holiday Inn, I believe, with a water park. Living in Eastern CT, the trip to MA promised to be at least an hour shorter while also completely avoiding any greater NYC traffic experience so that in and of itself was very attractive. As veterans of the Great Wolf Lodge Poconos - perhaps a dozen or more visits - we were cautiously optimistic about the opening of the Fitchburg, MA park. Overall, the feeling I got throughout the resort was. ![]()
